The Pre University SUPW Programme
The Socially Useful and Productive Work (SUPW) programme is an integral part of the Mallya Aditi International School experience. Each year the students of Stds. 11 and 12 spend two weeks on various activities designed towards community service. The activities are a combination of outbound work and in-school work during school hours.
The activities for the past few years have ranged from building playgrounds, painting murals at underprivileged schools, filmmaking, storytelling, curating local tours and compiling traditional recipes into a book.
Through these collaborative internships, we hope that Aditi students can explore socio-cultural diversity, develop empathy, and make a tangible difference in the lives of the children they interact with.
The High School SUPW Programme
The Socially Useful Productive Work (SUPW) programme is an integral component of the ICSE curriculum for classes IX and X. It aims to foster practical skills and community service among students, emphasising hands-on work and classroom discussions. The programme includes various crafts and services categorised under health and hygiene, food, shelter, and clothing. These categories encompass activities such as growing medical plants, kitchen gardening, pottery, masonry, and weaving, among others.
It helps students acquire practical skills in different crafts and services, enhancing their ability to contribute to society. The SUPW programme complements theoretical learning by providing a holistic educational experience that includes both practical and theoretical aspects. Looking at how beneficial it has been for our students, we have made it a mandatory programme for the IGCSE students too.
