Jagruti- Marching towards Global Citizenship.

‘Jagruti’ means awakening and was the title for a festival of civic awareness, organized by the middle school. The event looked at issues like consumerism and lifestyle and the quest for solutions that are tangible and applicable to daily life. Jagruti invited schools across every section of society and enabled meaningful dialogue amongst the students.

In a short span of twenty-five years, Mallya Aditi International School has widened its scope, changed the conventional norms of teaching and brought about a truly integrated system of learning…

Teaching & Learning

Teaching in Aditi is reflective and informed by best practices. Learning, then, follows almost naturally. The emphasis that teachers make is on enquiry, understanding and appreciation. Students are given opportunities to question, experiment and make sense of what they have learned. Collaborative learning is used often, when students share what they have learned with each other. The thoughtful use of technology scaffolds many classes ranging from German and French to Geometry and Shakespeare.

Dance, music, drama, art and experiential learning are not regarded as “extra” curricular at all but an essential part of learning. For example, functions in mathematics may be explained with musical patterns while symmetry could be taught with art projects.

Aditi has recently created a middle school, which targets the thinking and learning of students, from Std. Six to Eight. Working with educational phycologists, the teachers have put a discovery-based curriculum in place that teaches students to be self-directed without sacrificing exam standards. Students are also encouraged to think globally but act locally. Infusing values in students is high on the teacher’s agenda as is pastoral care.
