Making the school a plastic free environment. Elementary School would like to "Perish Plastic"!

SUPW - Stds. 9&10

The SUPW (Socially useful productive work) programme in high school is rooted in the Creative Arts.  Every student engages in an area that is related to visual and performing arts in addition to his or her academic choices. This adds to the breadth of learning opportunities offered at the school. The curriculum is intended to provide a broad framework of art and design practice applicable within the parameters of the SUPW program, and is aimed to encourage creative and technical exploration and development of skills and a working knowledge of the processes and techniques involved in the chosen area of study.

The ESL (English as a Second Language) Programme

MAIS offers a specialized ESL programme to students whose first language is not English. The student is assessed, to gauge the level of spoken and written English, and placed in the beginners, intermediate or advanced level.

The beginner’s level immerses the student in language instruction until basic skills are acquired. Mathematics, Science and Social Studies are also taught in the ESL Room. Music, art and physical education are taught with their grade-level, to give students opportunities to practice their newly acquired language skills. As their confidence increases, the students study Mathematics and Science with the rest of their grade-level. Gradually, as their English gets better, they are mainstreamed.
