Infosys Science Foundation (ISF) celebrated its ten-year milestone and announced the winners of the Infosys Prize 2018 in six categories – Engineering and Computer Sciences, Humanities, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Physical Sciences and Social Sciences. Five MAIS students of Stds. 11 and 12 were invited to attend the ceremony. Here, they interacted with members of the jury, like, Nobel laureate Prof. Amartya Sen, Prof. Kaushik Basu, Prof. Pradeep Khosla, Prof. Shrinivas Kulkarni, Dr. Mriganka Sur and Prof. Srinivasa Varadhan.
These students were selected to attend the prestigious function on the basis of a mathematics quiz organized in school by the Infosys Science Foundation. They were privileged to listen and interact with Prof Manjul Bhargav, R. Brandon Fradd, Professor of Mathematics at Princeton University, primarily know for his contributions to number theory. In the words of Mr. K Dinesh, President of the Infosys Science Foundation, “Motivating researchers at the right stage in their careers is critical for their success – they represent the future of India in their respective fields.” It certainly motivated our young minds to pursue science with passion!
